Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Hakim Ziyech deserves a starting role in the team’s 3-0 Premier League win over Leicester City on Saturday.
Hakim Ziyech, 28, came on in the second half and impressed the Blues as they beat the Foxes at King Power Stadium.
Tuchel said the Moroccan international deserved to start the match and was impressed for his contribution to the goal of Christian Pulisic (71st).
“I am also very happy for Hakim, who deserved to start, that he was again involved with an assist”, Tuchel said on the club’s official website.
The former Ajax Amsterdam star has recently been linked with a Chelsea departure as Borussia Dortmund consider a January loan for the Moroccan and Xavi’s FC Barcelona have expressed interest in joining him.
However, the German technician has already insisted that Ziyech is still an important player for Chelsea and that his recent performance is proof of that.
“Right now, here in Cobham (editor’s note: Chelsea training center), there is no reflection on his future. We don’t think about a potential change or an exchange or anything else in winter“, He said.
“Hakim did not come to my office to express such a wish, so for now he is a full member of the team”, stressed the Chelsea manager.
Ziyech will therefore be hoping for a start when Chelsea host Juventus in their Champions League Group H fixture at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
