Moroccan international Youssef En-Nesyri, a member of FC Sevilla, has been proclaimed the best player in the Spanish football championship for the month of April.
The 25-year-old forward was the competition’s most notable player scoring three goals – against Cadiz, Celta and Villarreal CF – during a phase of the tournament where his side went unbeaten, with four wins and one game zero, announced his club Sevilla FC.
This is the second time that En-Nesyri has been proclaimed La Liga Santander MVP of the Month, an award he already received in January 2021.
It’s also the seventh time a Sevilla player has received the award since the awards were launched in September 2013.
The first to do so was Ivan Rakitic, in January 2014, while Vitolo won it in March 2015 and Steven Nzonzi in January 2017. After Tomás Vaclík in November 2018 and En-Nesyri in January 2021, the last Sevillian to have received the award is Fernando Reges, in April 2021.
The Moroccan striker was chosen over fellow countryman Selim Amallah, Real Valladolid midfielder Marco Asensio, Real Madrid player Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid and Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao, Ronald Araujo central defender of FC Barcelona, and Lee Kanj-in of Real Mallorca.
