Wydad Casablanca is ready to secure its ticket to the final of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League during its match against Angola’s Petro Atlético scheduled for Friday at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, said Thursday in Casablanca, Wydad coach Walid Regragui.
At the pre-match press conference, he said that “we suffered from fatigue after our return from Angola, but we are now ready, having completed our physical preparation”noting that team morale is high, “because we will play the match at home (…). I do not need to remind you that since the return of the supporters, the team has achieved important victories”.
He indicated that his team know very well what awaits them in the semi-finals, explaining that Wydad “will face a team that has nothing to lose, which will increase the competition in the match”. He added that “we know them well and they know us too. They have a great coach and a strong squad.”
For his part, Wydad Casablanca player Hamza Ait Allal stressed the importance of respecting the opponent and not underestimating him, noting that “everything is possible in Champions League matches, but the most important thing is that we respect our opponent. We finished the first leg in our favour. Now, we have to achieve the same thing in the return match”.
The match between Wydad Casablanca and Petro Atlético will be officiated by the South African referee, Victor Gomez.
