Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit and his Spanish counterpart, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, held a working meeting in Madrid on Wednesday during which they had in-depth discussions on topics of common interest.
A joint press release published at the end of this meeting, specifies that during this meeting, the two ministers recalled the strategic importance of the relations between the two Kingdoms, which draw on the bonds of friendship and fraternity uniting King Mohammed VI and King Felipe VI.
While welcoming the exemplary cooperation between the services of the Ministries of the Interior of the two countries, which materializes the new and unprecedented dynamic in relations between the two countries, based on transparency, mutual respect, mutual trust, frank and loyal cooperation and permanent consultation, the two officials welcomed the efforts made for the gradual concretization of the various elements of the roadmap adopted at the end of discussions between King Mohammed VI and the President of the Spanish Government. , Pedro Sanchez.
They also highlighted the exemplary Moroccan-Spanish cooperation in the fields of migration and security, in particular the fight against terrorism and transnational crime. They stressed the need to further strengthen their cooperation in this area.
Likewise, the two parties highlighted the importance of preserving an environment of regional security and stability, which remains a fundamental objective and a shared responsibility, requiring effective cooperation in all areas to face the challenges and threats to the security of both countries.
They welcomed the resumption of the Marhaba/Transit operation and agreed to strengthen coordination between their respective departments to ensure the best level of success and also praised the role of the Mohammed V Foundation for solidarity in steering this operation.
