The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated on Monday that the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus presents “a very high risk” globally.
The UN agency has in this sense warned against the many uncertainties that still surround the dangerousness and transmissibility of the variant.
In a technical document made public, the WHO stressed that “to date, no deaths associated with the Omicron variant have been reported”, but has nevertheless given advice to the authorities in an attempt to curb the spread of the new variant.
