Each year, more than 3 million Moroccans living abroad return to their country, making the return to their homeland a well-established tradition. This year, with Eid Al-Adha, this tradition is particularly marked.

In order to best welcome Moroccans residing abroad, in accordance with the instructions of King Mohammed VI, the operation ” Marhaba 2023 began on June 5 and will run until September 15.

To guarantee an optimal reception of travellers, all human and logistical resources have been mobilized at Mohammed V International Airport. The airport partners have strengthened their coordination to offer more flexibility in terms of security measures, customs control and sanitary. They have also improved the orientation and information available to Moroccans residing abroad.

Abdelhamid Sanhajir, regional project manager for the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in the Casablanca-Settat region, explained that the role of the foundation at Mohammed V airport is to accompany and help Moroccans residing in the region. foreigner (MRE) from their arrival until their departure.

The staff directs people requiring medical assistance to the medical unit permanently present at the airport and provides assistance to people with special needs, pregnant women and families with children. The foundation also coordinates with travel agencies to manage flight delays and postponements.

In the context of Eid Al-Adha, the mobilization of the foundation has been reinforced to help Moroccans residing abroad to return mainly to celebrate this religious ritual. The foundation is in daily coordination with the airport management to ensure the best reception conditions for travellers.

For his part, Abdelhak Mzour, director of Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, said that the airport is implementing a series of measures in collaboration with the Mohammed V Foundation during the period of reception of Moroccans residing abroad. (June 5 to September 15). The main objective is to accompany travelers in the most flexible way possible.

Currently, the airport handles 26,000 passengers a day, and this number will increase with the arrival of Eid and the return of Moroccans residing abroad to join their families. Work has been undertaken to increase the airport’s reception capacity, in particular with regard to immigration procedures on arrival and the delivery of baggage.

The operation ” Marhaba 2023 » takes place in two phases. The first phase, which is the arrival phase, consists of welcoming Moroccans residing abroad, while the departure phase, which will begin on August 1. These two phases are implemented in continuous collaboration with the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.

Members of the Moroccan community residing abroad expressed their satisfaction with the excellent reception conditions at the airport. They are also looking forward to returning to their country to reunite with their families and loved ones on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

The operation ” Marhaba 2023 began on June 5 under the supervision of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity. This operation is carried out in collaboration with other parties concerned at the national level, as well as in France, Italy and Spain, where 24 assistance and support sites are set up for Moroccans residing abroad.

The objective of this operation is to support the growing flows of Moroccans residing abroad in the best conditions when they return to Morocco during the summer period.

The usual social and medical assistance services will continue to be offered in the operation’s reception centres. Marhaba » inside and outside the national territory. Social workers will also be present on board the ships during long journeys.

To carry out this operation, more than 1,400 people, including foundation staff, social workers, doctors, health professionals and volunteers, were mobilized to listen to the needs of Moroccans residing abroad. , help them and provide them with the necessary support and assistance.
