Walid Regragui bids farewell to the WAC audience

The coach of Wydad de Casablanca, Walid Regragui, bid farewell to the club on Sunday, but especially to the public of the Reds, at the end of his contract with the club, marked by a more than honorable career and crowned by two titles, a final lost and another to play.

It is with great emotion that I wanted to address the large Wydad family. We all lived together an extraordinary season where we won two major titles, namely a third Champions League and a twenty-second Botola. We were also very close to winning a Throne Cup which has eluded us for 20 years but football is like this but that does not take away from all the work we have done together, ”wrote the technician on his Facebook page.

While recalling the designation of WAC by CAF as the best club on the continent, Regragui assured that this is a source of pride “to have allowed Wydad to be on the roof of Africa this year”. .

He also wished to thank everybody“. The players ” for all their efforts on and off the pitch and who, from the outset, believed in the possibility of being able to win as many titles as possible this year and enter even more into the history of the club”.

The president of the club, Said Naciri for having ” believed in my project and placed all his trust in order to be able to achieve the objectives that we had set together”.

His thanks are also addressed to the general public of Wydad without whom, the conquest of these titles would have been impossible. Their unwavering support has carried us this season and thank you for being our greatest recruits this season (…)”.

Not omitting anyone, the coach also thanked the members of the committee, the technical staff, the medical staff, the administrative staff, the Sporting Director,…”and all the others“.

Arrived on the Wydad Athletic Club bench in August 2021 from Al-Duhail (Qatari D1), Waild Regragui achieved the Championship double (ahead of rival Raja) and the CAF Champions League, won at the expense of the Egyptians of ‘Al-Ahli. WAC was also an unfortunate finalist in the 2020/21 Throne Cup, ahead of Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RSB), which it must face again, probably in September, for the African Super Cup.
