The authorities have not yet implemented the new strategy to expand vaccination for street children, abandoned or out of school and migrants, one of the categories forgotten in this vast vaccination campaign against coronavirus.
As Morocco enters its second week of application of the health pass, a subject that is still debated among citizens, the health authorities are still struggling to organize this operation, especially since it is intervening with other novelties. .
Indeed, the health pass poses several problems in its execution because of the speed with which it was imposed. The authorities have granted a “temporary” health pass for first-time vaccines, but this already poses challenges since some people who have been forced to be vaccinated do not plan to take a second dose.
The process of vaccination or non-vaccination of people at high risk of allergic reactions remains on its side, still unclear. Finally, the expansion of vaccination vis-à-vis migrants, and children living on the streets or not in school is a completely different subject that has not yet been dealt with at the level of the Ministry of Health, even if it has been announced by the Minister.
If the news was announced in a circular last week in which regional health officials were called on to propose actions and implement this new measure, to date, no sign of the implementation of this decision. has been communicated.
Contacted by MoroccoLatestNews FR, several officials within the Ministry of Health or regional delegations were unable to answer questions relating to the organization of this next step, and some said they were unaware of the existence of this circular or of a such strategy.
However, Monday, in a session in Parliament, the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, answered questions from parliamentarians and spoke of this expansion of the vaccination campaign.
“It was decided to adopt a new strategy aimed at extending the vaccination campaign to other groups, foremost among them irregular migrants, abandoned children, the out-of-school and people with special needs”, a- he declared before parliamentarians.
“I think this operation will be managed inter-departmentally. There will not only be Health, there will be the Ministry of National Education and local authorities, so it will certainly be a collegial strategy, ”a source within the Ministry of Health told us. without knowing the details of the operation.
The expansion of this vaccination campaign to these new categories of people poses a number of questions, including how these people will be identified and sensitized to vaccination, how to follow up for the next doses when they are without fixed domicile, how to vaccinate people without an identity document, and how to vaccinate children without parental authority?
