US Deputy Chief Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan

The leader of the American congressmen, Nancy Pelosi, landed in Taiwan on Tuesday, despite warnings from China which regards the visit as a serious provocation risking to inflame already tense Sino-American relations.

Footage broadcast live from television showed Nancy Pelosi, 82, being greeted by Joseph Wu, Taiwan’s foreign minister. She arrived at Songshan Airport on a US military plane.

The head of the American deputies affirmed, upon her arrival, that her visit to Taiwan shows the “unconditional support” of the United States to Taiwan and that his visit to Taiwan “contradicted” not the US policy towards China.

For its part, China denounces the attitude “extremely dangerous” the United States.
