Union Touarga (UTS) realized its dream of being promoted to the first football division after its victory (2-1) against Ittihad de Khémisset, Sunday at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan stadium in Rabat, during of the 28th day of the Botola Pro D2 “Inwi”.
With 52 points, Union Touarga wins the second access ticket to the upper floor. The Moghreb of Tetouan had already composted, from the 25th day, its ticket to the first division.
The Tourougui team, which needed a single point to validate its rise, benefited in particular from the defeat of Olympique Dcheira (3rd / 42 pts) against Chabab Atlas Khénifra (2-0) and the reverse of the Jeunesse El Massira (4th / 41 pts) at home against Kawkab Marrakech (0-2). For Mohamed Benchrifa, technical director and assistant coach of UTS, it is a historic day for this prestigious club which has fueled national football with big stars, like Timoumi.
It is the result of enormous work by all the components of the club, he welcomed in a statement to MAP, saying that it is amply deserved because the UTS is an organized and professional team, where rub shoulders with seasoned players and young elements.
“Personally, this achievement confirms my choice for the club and its sporting project which convinced me,” he said.
For his part, Abdelmoula Elkhanfari, administrative director of the UTS assured that this ascent is not the result of chance and the mission was not easy, “because we had to deal with experienced teams”.

Founded in the 1960s of the last century, Union Touarga made brief appearances in the first division in the 1980-81, 1982-83 and 1986-87 seasons, before managing to retain their place in D1 for longer after their rise in 2004-2005.
