On the occasion of the holding of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund is organizing a side event, with the International Development Research Center and Global Affairs Canada, to announce that it will host the center. Global Excellence in Vital Statistics and Registration Systems (CRVS).
This event, which will take place on September 27, 2021, will see high-level participation from several countries, including Morocco, in order to emphasize the importance of civil registration in monitoring progress and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals explains the UNFPA in a press release.
The registration of events, such as births, deaths, causes of death, marriages and divorces, plays a central role in improving the health and status of women, children and adolescents pursues the same source.
” These statistics also provide policymakers and practitioners with the evidence needed to design interventions and implement appropriate policies in the area of maternal and child health. Civil registration and vital statistics systems are not only necessary to monitor the situation of women and children, but also represent a guarantee for their access to education, health services and economic opportunities“, Explains the United Nations Population Fund.
In conclusion, UNFPA indicates that it supports 150 countries, including Morocco, in the collection of demographic data able to understand their trends and develop policies to ensure sustainable and inclusive development.
