The Constitutional Union Party (UC) won Thursday, May 12, 2022 the partial legislative elections concerning the electoral seat of the constituency of Sidi Bennour, canceled by decision of the wise men on February 1.
The UC candidate, president of the rural commune of Oulad Amrane, Abdelkrim Amine, won the vote with 20,781 votes, followed by Mohamed Naji of the PI (12,869) and Mustapha Battach of the USFP (1,821) , local authorities said.
Of the 235,420 registered on the electoral lists, 35,471 voted during these partial deadlines, specify the sources, noting that the low turnout was noted in particular in the polling stations of the city of Sidi Bennour.
A total of 61 polling stations were set up at the provincial level, where the electoral operation took place under normal conditions marked by good organization, thanks to the mobilization of the provincial authorities, who ensured respect preventive measures to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.
Following these results, the Libra party, which started the legislature with 81 deputies, making this formation the third in terms of seats behind the RNI and the PAM, lost a seat in parliament, but without affecting the ranking. .
It should be recalled that the Constitutional Court had canceled the election of Mohamed Naji, deputy of the Istiqlal Party (PI) to the House of Representatives, during the legislative elections of September 8, 2021, for dual political affiliation.
