The National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) brought before the competent prosecutor’s office near the Court of Appeal of Casablanca, this Monday, May 8, an athlete from the city of Safi and a sports journalist working for a private radio, suspected of participating in the falsification and promotion of Qatar 2022 World Cup tickets on the black market.
The BNPJ has opened an investigation, on the instructions of the public prosecutor, to determine the circumstances surrounding the falsification of dozens of tickets for the matches of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which were mainly intended to be distributed free of charge to Moroccan fans.
The results of the investigation identified the suspects involved in the illegal collection and promotion of these banknotes while in Qatar, in exchange for improper sums of money.
The research procedures carried out by the BNPJ included the collection of testimonials from a group of people who obtained these tickets in exchange for a fee, the identification of the ways in which they were collected and promoted, as well as the investigation of the sources of their possession and sale on the black market. These procedures led to suspicion of the involvement of the two people brought to justice as suspects in this case.
In addition, the BNPJ is continuing the necessary research and investigations under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, in order to determine the identity of any person whose involvement has been proven in this case. These people will be subjected to judicial investigations and brought to justice.
