“Not all previously verified accounts will get the Official label and this label is not available for purchase. Accounts that will receive it include government accounts, corporations, business partners, major media outlets, publishers, and select public figures,” explained the chief product officer in a series of tweets.
Esther Crawford also clarified that this new acronym will make it possible to distinguish between Twitter Blue subscribers with blue badges and accounts verified as being official.
However, Twitter has not yet specified how this new recognition item will be awarded to affected accounts.
