After days of radio silence and lack of justifications following the arrest of the strongman of Ennahda and who was also a former minister, the Tunisian authorities finally explained to the press the nature and reasons of this affair. , by rejecting the “political” thesis.
“There were fears of a terrorist act affecting the security of the country, it was necessary to react”, explained the Minister, Taoufik Charfeddine. And to add that he saw himself obliged, to apply “quickly” the judicial control as a measure given that the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution were slow to take the case seriously while they had them. transmitted items.
Thus, Noureddine Bhiri was placed under house arrest and faced with critics who reproached him for the case being dealt with by military justice, the Minister of the Interior explained that it was not a choice but of the procedure when it comes to these types of charges against a former official.
According to the minister, there would be “serious suspicions” in particular in relation to “the manufacture and delivery” of false identity papers and nationality certificates. Another member of Ennahda is also detained, without his name being revealed by the Tunisian authorities.
