transfers at more than 47 billion dirhams in H1-2022

Transfers from Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) reached more than 47.04 billion dirhams (MMDH) for the first half of 2022, against 44.33 billion MAD during the same period of the previous year, according to the ‘Exchange Office.

These transfers thus posted an increase of 6.1% (+2.71 billion dirhams) compared to the same period of the past year, specifies the Office which has just published its monthly indicators of foreign trade for the month of June. Compared to their 2018 level, these transfers have increased by more than 15.18 billion dirhams, the same source said.

These statistics also show an increase in the trade deficit of 48.7% with an increase in imports by 44.2% and exports by 41.2%.

For its part, the flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) increased by 89% to 16.191 billion dirhams at the end of last June.
