Trade between Morocco and Argentina came close to the $1.5 billion threshold in 2022, up 48% from 2021 figures, says a document from the Argentine Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).
The (provisional) statistics released by INDEC show exports from Argentina to Morocco of 943.9 million dollars and imports from Morocco of 548.3 million dollars, a trade surplus in favor of Argentina of $395.7 million.
The same source points out that Argentine exports to Morocco increased by 39% compared to 2021 figures ($679.3 million), while imports from the South American country jumped by 68.1%, from $326.2 million to $548.3 million.
INDEC specifies that the main products imported from Morocco are cars, tractors and other types of “land vehicles”, salt, sulphur, cement, machinery, mechanical parts and electrical equipment.
The main exports to Morocco are made up of cereals, animal and vegetable oils, animal feed and fish products.
According to figures released by INDEC, bilateral trade has almost tripled over the past five years, from $642.9 million in 2017 to almost $1.5 billion last year.
Finally, at the continental level, Argentina is the second destination of Moroccan exports to Latin America, after Brazil, and the third source of Moroccan imports, after Brazil and Mexico.
