The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, reconfirmed her commitment to the revival of the sector during a working session held on Tuesday with the President and representatives of the National Confederation of Tourism.

A press release from the ministry specifies that this working session, which took place in the presence of the directors general of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT), made it possible to recall, first, the positive outlook currently experienced by the tourism sector worldwide and also in the country.

To this end, the president and representatives of the National Confederation of Tourism welcomed the resolute commitment of the minister as well as the efforts made within the framework of the support plan for the sector, the same source said.

The President also shared an inventory highlighting two major issues that need to be addressed in order to support the revival of the sector.

It is initially about the air which conditions the proposition of tourist value and the attractiveness of the destination Morocco, makes known the press release which underlines that the minister confirmed that a work of consultation is engaged with several actors. on this subject.

The second priority concerns the lack of qualified resources due to the loss of the attractiveness of the sector in terms of employment. This subject is all the more critical with regard to the increased demand that the sector will experience very soon, continues the press release, noting that a dedicated action plan will thus be put in place in order to reposition the employability of the sector and to promote retention of profiles.

Still in the direction of revival, Fatim-Zahra Ammor has made professionals aware of the importance of developing leisure and entertainment offers, in order to attract tourists and in particular local tourists. These offers will supplement the promotional efforts made by the ONMT and promote, in the short term, growth in new markets.

In the long term, the vision communicated by the minister reveals a bold and optimistic objective of doubling the number of arrivals by 2030. A vision that has been welcomed by all members of the confederation.
