The tourism and handicraft sectors have taken a hit over the past two years due to the pandemic. However, they have shown themselves to be rather resilient, according to the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor. The latter also returned to the success of the Forsa program.
The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, indicated, during an exclusive interview with MoroccoLatestNews which will be published this Friday, that tourism has nevertheless made a exceptional year beyond expectations, stating that ” we ended the year with almost 11 million tourists, compared to 2019, we recovered about 84% of tourists knowing that we were closed the first five weeks of the year“.
With regard to crafts, the minister in charge explained that this sector had suffered a lot since it is extremely dependent on the tourism sector, however, the activity was able to resume with the return of tourists.
” This year, we carried out structuring actions. We have set up for the first time the National Register of Craftsmen, which allows craftsmen to have an identifier, therefore to have a real status which then allows them to register with the CNSS.“, unveiled Ammor.
As for Forsa, which was a great success in its first edition, the Minister recalled that the program aims to encourage entrepreneurship among young people. ” He came to respond to the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who really wanted to put entrepreneurship at the center of the government’s concerns for job creation with real added value.“, she pointed out.
For the department headed by Ammor, Forsa allowed young people to be shown that they were capable of launching projects. ” We took young people who finally had a bit of ideas and who didn’t know what to do with them and we managed to transform these ideas into projects. We realized that the real problem of young people is not the lack of ideas but the lack of courage to go all the way because they are afraid of failing“said the Minister.
