A little security twist on the part of the Moroccan authorities in the North of the Kingdom and more particularly in Fnideq, Mdiq and Tetouan, in order to avoid a repeat of what happened on Christmas Eve, when hundreds of people arrived from different parts of the Kingdom with the intention of illegally entering the occupied Presidency of Sebta.
According to the daily El Mundo, these people had been attracted by fake news or false information on social networks saying the permeability of the borders of the occupied enclave. It was a night of tension in particular in Fnideq because of the mobilization of hundreds of young Moroccans from all over Morocco, believing in a remake of last May and betting on a possible passivity of the security forces.
It was bad for them since the Royal Navy had picked up candidates for illegal immigration before they entered the prohibited zone. Also the Moroccan authorities do not want to fall into the similar situation of the past week which led to the arrest of three people (two men and a woman) since brought to justice.
As a reminder, about fifteen Moroccans had been detained by the Royal Gendarmerie when about fifty of them had dared the challenge of the illegal crossing. But security forces on both sides had succeeded in aborting these attempts.
On the Spanish side, patrols of the citizen security and prevention and reaction brigade of the national police and the civil guard had been deployed inside the Spanish customs of the occupied enclave to prevent the attempt to cross on the Spanish side. of those fifty people.
While in Fnideq, the authorities have reportedly managed to contain hundreds of people. It was a hectic Christmas night to say the least. Also, in prevention of a possible event of this kind, a number of agents of the Moroccan security forces, the Police, the Royal Gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces would have been deployed in the region according to the newspaper which takes its sources from testimonies. citizens of the region.
Indeed, it is still said, fake news is circulating and activity has been detected in social networks and WhatsApp groups organizing meetings to attempt a massive passage of candidates for exile to Sebta.
People who decide to approach the approaches to border facilities are warned and will even be detained according to El Mundo, and anyone who does not order the order not to approach the border will be presented to the Attorney General of the Kingdom for possible prosecutions, which could result in prison terms and fines.
In this context, El Mundo understands that the head of the Moroccan government has asked the Minister of the Interior to give orders to the prefectures of Tetouan and Mdiq to control and contain by force if necessary, the people who have the intention to approach the area with the intention of crossing the border of Bab Sebta. It was ordered to “protect the accesses” of the road which bypasses Fnideq and ends at the border post, as well as the access of the road which directly connects the customs to the road which goes towards Tangier.
