Elements of the Tangier police headquarters thwarted an attempt at illegal immigration early Saturday morning and arrested 25 individuals from countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the suspects were apprehended at a road checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Tangier, immediately after their arrival on board a bus from public transport in flagrante delicto of possession of 36 iron objects of artisanal manufacture, which would be used in the collective operations of immigration by climbing.
The research and investigations carried out in the context of this case revealed that all these candidates for illegal immigration do not have any identity document or travel document, and that they reside illegally in Morocco, adds the same source.
The defendants were submitted to the judicial inquiry ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office to elucidate all the circumstances surrounding this case and identify the possible people involved in the organization of the collective illegal immigration attempts, concludes the DGSN.
