three bronze medals for Moroccan karateka

Moroccan karatekas won three bronze medals at the 19th Mediterranean Games which opened on Saturday in Oran, Algeria.

These three medals were gleaned by Chaimae El Haiti, Nisrine Brouk and Mehdi Sriti.

El Haiti, engaged in the under 50 kg category of these games which will continue until July 6, won (2-0) against Turkey’s Serap Ozcelik, world N.1 and former world champion.

For his part, Mehdi Sriti won bronze in the -84 kg category, beating Portugal’s Nuno Miguel Moreira (8-0), while the athlete Nisrine Brouk took bronze in the -68 kg category, after his victory against to the Greek Vasiliki Panetsidou. This fight ended in a draw (3-3), but the Moroccan karateka won for scoring the first point.

“I am delighted to present my country with this medal. I prepared well for this competition and I thank the officials of the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation for their support.”she said after her victory.

Morocco participates with a delegation of 130 athletes, engaged in 15 disciplines, in the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games.
