Hakim Ziyech obviously makes Thomas Tuchel happy. The Chelsea coach said he was pleased with the energy performance of the Morocco international in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United, but insisted the winger could have been “more decisive”.
The 28-year-old retained his place in the squad on Sunday after a strong performance in the midweek victory over Juventus.
To put things in perspective, Ziyech made 78 touches throughout the game, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner had 38 and 27, respectively.
After the draw between the two English teams, Tuchel underlined the effort and the growing confidence of the former Ajax Amsterdam star.
“He played with fantastic energy. He was not decisive today, but he had a very good game ”, the German told Chelsea TV about Ziyech’s performance.
“Ziyech doesn’t stop running. We see him everywhere, in attack, in defense, most of his passes are murderous now we can say that Hakim is a complete player ”, he added.
“I feel that he is more free now and totally involved, it is good for us that he is confident”, believes the coach of the Blues.
Ziyech actually created two chances in the game, but neither of them was a big chance Tuchel was hoping for.
Last month, Tuchel pointed out that Ziyech has been slowed down by the effects of the shoulder injury he suffered early in the season. The injury, according to Tuchel, limited the winger’s movement even after his return.
It seems now Ziyech has finally overcome the problem, ready to cement his place in the squad.
