Thirteen injured in gunshots, stabbed or hit by cars

At least 13 people were injured by gunfire, stabbed or struck by cars when a scene of chaos erupted among hundreds of people gathered early Sunday morning in Syracuse, New York, police said.

Four people were injured in a shootout, five were stabbed and four others were hit by cars, Syracuse Police Lt. Matthew Malinowski said in a statement.

The lives of the injured are not in danger, police said.

Law enforcement responded to the scene after receiving a report of gunfire and found hundreds of people gathered near the intersection of Davis Street and Massena Street, Malinowski said.

“Police entered the crowd and discovered several victims who were shot, stabbed or struck by vehicles fleeing the scene after shots were fired,” he added.

“An investigation is ongoing,” Malinowski said.
