The Australian Embassy in Rabat organized, on Monday, a ceremony to present the trophy for the Women’s Football World Cup, which will be jointly organized by Australia and New Zealand, from July 20 to August 20.
This ceremony, held in partnership with the Embassy of New Zealand and in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the International Federation (FIFA) and the organization Tibu-Afrique, is part of an international tour in the 32 countries participating in this world championship.
The Women’s World Cup trophy, of which the Kingdom is the 1st stopover in Africa, the 6th in general, was presented by the Australian Ambassador in Rabat, Michael Cutts, the representatives of the New Zealand Embassy and FIFA. , in the presence of players from the women’s national team, diplomats and sports figures.
In a speech for the occasion, the Australian ambassador in Rabat indicated that this ceremony constitutes a grandiose sporting event and an opportunity to celebrate the Moroccan woman who has signed a remarkable career in different disciplines.
“This is an opportunity to encourage girls to practice sport, to promote the anchoring of the values of citizenship among the rising generations and to highlight the potential of women in various fields, in particular sport”, assured Michael Cutts.
After emphasizing that Morocco has invested enormously in the field of sport, given the place that sport occupies in the lives of citizens, he indicated that Morocco has never ceased to support all disciplines, including women’s football which has distinguished itself on a continental scale.
Morocco’s interest in sport has manifested itself, mainly, through the historic and unprecedented feat of the Atlas Lions, semi-finalists of the Qatar-2022 World Cup, in addition to the qualification of the Moroccan women’s team. in the final phase of the World Cup-2023, he argued.
In a statement to the press, the captain of the Moroccan selection, Ghizlane Chebbak, said that the tour of the Kingdom of the World Cup trophy is a source of motivation to sign an honorable participation in the Australia-New Zealand World Cup.
“The players are determined to honor national football during this high mass of world football, even if the Atlas Lionesses have inherited a very tough group,” she noted.
The original Women’s World Cup trophy made a stopover at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora on Sunday. During the final phase of the World Cup, the Moroccan team, paid in group H, will find Germany, South Korea and Colombia.
