The exceptional support program for the rural world drawn up by the government to mitigate the effects of delayed rains, in execution of the High Guidelines of King Mohammed VI, will provide valuable support to agricultural professionals, said the president of the Chamber of Agriculture of Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Mohamed Riad.
This program is timely because Morocco is currently going through a period of acute drought due to the scarcity of rainfall, which has a negative impact on all sectors of the agricultural and livestock sector, said Mohamed Riad.
The announcement of this program brings some relief and moral comfort to professionals in the agricultural sector, especially small farmers and breeders whose activities have not been spared by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, he said. he adds.
Significant financial resources will be injected into the agricultural sector as part of this program, welcomed Mohamed Riad, noting that this reflects the King’s high concern for professionals in the agricultural sector, the main provider of jobs in Morocco.
This program will benefit all the components and activities of the sector through strong interventions that will bring a breath of fresh air both to the sectors and areas most affected by the drought and to the treasurers of farmers and breeders, a- he added, noting that this commendable initiative is “excellent news” for all operators in the agricultural sector.
Endowed with an overall financial envelope of 10 billion dirhams, the exceptional support program for the rural world revolves around three main axes. The first concerns the protection of animal and plant capital and the management of water scarcity, the second targets agricultural insurance and the third relates to the alleviation of the financial burdens of farmers and professionals.
