US military band Free Groove will perform at a series of free, public concerts across Morocco from June 17-28.

A press release from the United States Embassy in Rabat, underlines that the military musical group will offer “its incomparable mix of American rock, pop and jazz to the local public, in order to celebrate the African Lion military exercise and our bilateral security partnership.

Free Groove’s tour as part of Exercise African Lion 2022 is hosted by the U.S. Embassy, ​​in partnership with the EMAA Foundation and other local partners.

The group, which stopped on June 17 in Casablanca, Place des Nations Unies – as part of International Music Day, will perform on June 19 at Kasbah Mehdia, in front of the Kasbah and on June 21 in Rabat. , at the esplanade of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, said the same source.

Free Groove will perform on June 23 in Tangier (Corniche), June 26 in Agadir, Place Al Wahda (corniche) and June 28 in Taroudant, Place 20 August.

All concerts will start at 7:00 p.m. and will be free and open to the public, the US Embassy detailed, adding that American historian and Fulbright scholarship winner Katie Hicks and her group of Moroccan Amazigh music musicians Tirroysa will accompany Free Groove in Rabat. , Agadir and Taroudant.

Free Groove is the premier US Army jazz band in Europe and Africa, made up of talented soldier-musicians. It is made up of members of the United States Armed Forces, having been specially selected for their improvisational and jazz arranging abilities.

This group of highly skilled soldier-musicians perform music from a wide range of jazz styles, including straight-ahead, bebop, cool-jazz and Latin. In addition to entertaining US troops, Free Groove regularly performs for senior US military officials and their diplomatic guests.
