The Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has unveiled its plan to overhaul the school map for the start of the 2022-2023 school year. This card aims to make the rules for assigning pupils more flexible in the primary, middle and high school cycles.
The department of Chakib Benmoussa thus communicated, in a framework note addressed to the directors of the regional Academies of education and training (AREF), the new rules for the assignment of students to solve the problem of congestion in the schools in the Kingdom.
In this sense, a digital platform, called “CARTESCO”, was launched during the period from July 20 to 29, 2022, for the update of this system, in close collaboration with the AREFs.
A number of principles were highlighted during this operation and which, according to the ministry, must imperatively be respected, namely:
– Not to exceed 30 students in the first and second year primary classes, as well as 40 students for the middle and high school classes.
– Limit the use of splitting classes between several levels, otherwise rely on two-level classes with a maximum of 30 students and three-level classes with less than 15 students per class.
– Ensure the balanced distribution of teachers across all establishments in order to guarantee equal opportunities between students from urban and rural areas, and
– Ensure favorable access for people with specific needs to the various education programmes.
