The Ministry of Health is organizing, in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) and UNICEF, from June 24 to July 24, awareness days on maternal and child nutrition under the slogan “The first 1000 days… The basis for a better future! “.
This campaign is part of the National Nutrition Program, on the one hand, which aims to improve the state of health of each individual through good nutrition and, on the other hand, in the context of the celebration of the month. positive parenting instituted in June of each year, the health ministry said in a press release. This event is also part of the efforts made by the Kingdom to enhance its human capital, added the same source. These awareness days align both with international recommendations and with the vision of the Ministry of Health and its partners to promote early childhood development as a key component of human capital development.
The first 1000 days of life, which cover the period from conception to the age of two, constitute the first window of opportunity to act in favor of the optimal development of the child, the ministry said, stressing that the growth rate, especially cognitive and cerebral during this period is unparalleled on the scale of a lifetime.

The campaign will also strengthen the knowledge of pregnant and breastfeeding women, their families and communities on the benefits of adopting these practices for the good health and nutrition of mother and child. This campaign will be deployed through numerous awareness-raising actions, in particular webinars intended for health professionals, interactive discussion sessions with families, a digital and media campaign as well as local awareness-raising actions in health establishments. , said the ministry, noting that it will involve relevant departments and partner sectors as well as civil society.
