The ministry is committed to operationalizing as quickly as possible a vast support plan for operators

The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima-Zahra Ammor, pledged on Wednesday to operationalize as quickly as possible a vast plan to support tourism operators.

During a working session with the president and representatives of the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT), the Minister recalled the resolute commitment of her department and all components of the Government in the implementation of measures the most urgent as well as more structuring measures, such as a sector fund backed by the Mohammed VI Fund, said a press release from the ministry.

In the presence of the directors general of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and the Moroccan Tourism Engineering Society (SMIT), this session allowed to review the 10 proposals of the CNT deemed necessary to support the sector to cope with the recent closure of borders and prepare the sectorial recovery in the best conditions, said the same source.

And to add that “After more than 21 months of health crisis, the evolution of the context requires a new series of support measures for employees and operators”.

The main measures studied relate to a new extension of the fixed allowance of 2,000 dirhams (already paid for 4 months from September to December 2021), the revision of the deadlines for the payment of social charges, the establishment of new banking mechanisms and the strengthening of air transport to accelerate the recovery.

At the end of this working session, it was decided with the Confederation to set up a technical committee to operationalize the support measures as soon as possible, the press release concludes.
