Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit held a working meeting in Rabat on Tuesday with his Israeli counterpart Ayelet Shaked, attended by senior officials from the interior departments of the two countries.
According to a press release from the Ministry of the Interior, this meeting is in the wake of the Joint Declaration between the Kingdom of Morocco, the United States of America and the State of Israel, signed before His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in December 2020.
It reflects the commitment of the two countries to resume full official contacts between Moroccan and Israeli counterparts, the statement said.
“The renewal of Morocco-Israel relations is likely to open up prospects for joint actions, underlined the Israeli Minister of the Interior,” declared Ayelet Shaked, in a statement to the press following her talks with her counterpart.
The working meeting was an opportunity for a fruitful exchange between the two ministers on issues falling within the competence of their respective departments and the promising prospects for cooperation between the two countries, the same source reported.
To this end, the two parties stressed the importance of developing consultation mechanisms on the various subjects of common interest.
