The Mimouna Association and the Moroccan Jewish Community of Toronto are celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Canada by organizing two events.
The first, an Andalusian musical evening, organized this Saturday, May 21 at Riad Sultane, in the Kasbah of Tangier.
The second event, a cultural conference, will be held in Rabat on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 in the presence of several former Moroccan ambassadors to Canada, the Canadian ambassador to Morocco as well as many other national and international personalities.
These meetings aim to consolidate bilateral relations between the two country, but also to highlight the role of the Jewish-Moroccan diaspora in Canada in the preservation of Moroccan culture and its promotion to Canadians.
Mimouna is a non-profit cultural association created in 2007 in Ifrane by young Muslim students wishing to promote and preserve the Judeo-Moroccan heritage.
The association has since extended its activities to the national level in order to engage dynamically in the education of Moroccan youth in Moroccan Jewish heritage.
One of the founding principles of the Mimouna association, as a citizen and patriotic association, is to preserve and strengthen the plural Moroccan identity.
