Several heavyweights of the opposition in Morocco have subscribed to a common charter, although for the time being fictitious and which aims to rebalance the electoral game. A first for years and a certain Benky who had made everyone agree for his stage exit. But come to think of it, do they really matter?
Today, Friday 13 May, the presidents of opposition groups and groupings in the House of Representatives, Abderrahim Chahid (Socialist Group), Driss Sentissi (Haraki Group), Rachid Hamouni (Progress and Socialism Group) and d’Abdellah Bouanou (Justice and Development Group) concluded a series of meetings with the general secretaries of the opposition political parties as a “consultation” with the very likely aim of coordinating common actions.
Thus, after being received Thursday, May 12, at the central headquarters of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) party in Rabat by Driss Lachgar, First Secretary of the USFP, they met, Nabil Benabdallah, secretary general of the Progress and Socialism Party (PPS), and Abdelilah Benkirane, secretary general of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), before consulting this Friday morning with Mohand Laenser, secretary general of the Popular Movement (MP) .
In this respect, Driss Sentissi, who “caps” this “sling” if one can say so, declared to MoroccoLatestNews that ” the presidents of opposition groups and groupings in the House of Representatives decided to experiment and evaluate the pros and cons of this coordination with opposition party leaders.
A meeting between opposition leaders will take place soon to define the context and derive the benefits, he added, noting that “cThis coordination had started with the submission of joint amendments to the finance bill, as well as to other laws”.
According to Driss Sentissi, “theare meetings of presidents of opposition groups and groupings in the House of Representatives with the leaders of the opposition are initially intended to listen to each other, observations and suggestions before the consultations“.
He also noted that ” these meetings were very positive, without overbidding, nor suggestive power, and that it was therefore, a message to the Moroccan citizen to reassure him as to the constitutional roles that the opposition tries to fulfill at best “.
And our interlocutor added: The general secretaries made suggestions as to the common activities to be carried out, in the pure respect of the ideology, traditions and history of each party. “.
Coordination does not mean, he continued, ” merge into one and the same team, but rather that each one has full autonomy to act and counter the government to oral questions and by submitting the initiatives deemed appropriate “.
On the other hand, Driss Sentissi confirmed that the opposition and opposition groups and groups in the House of Representatives will announce in the coming days ” a series of joint cultural and political activities, which should give luster to the work carried out “because this forehead if one can say” is not dead–born but will continue throughout this term “.
He further explained that “ the opposition groups are also coordinating on the changes that will be made to the internal regime of the House of Representatives in order to guarantee the rights of the opposition “, emphasizing that” there is a desire for consensus on the part of everyone, the majority and the opposition “.
Hope it lasts !
