The Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology is organizing an anniversary session on May 18, 19 and 20, 2022 on the theme “Biomedical scientific research and technological innovation in the service of the fight against pandemics”.
Following two years of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the celebration of this 16th anniversary session takes on a special character.
Indeed, and following the call of King Mohammed VI, the Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Techniques has put in place an important action plan in favor of research on Covid-19.
Among the measures taken, the financing of a research project based on a biomedical pole, a technological pole and a modeling pole, as well as spaces for exchanges and debates in the form of webinars, seminars and working groups .
As such, the Academy has committed a grant of 10 million dirhams for the financing of structuring and multidisciplinary research projects related to different aspects of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
In this context, and through the theme chosen for this commemorative session, the Academy is engaging in a debate of great scientific significance, in which will participate personalities of great scientific notoriety, nationals of Morocco and foreign countries, and the Minister of Health and of Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, who will open the session with an inaugural lecture on current and future measures to deal with the current pandemic and other unprecedented epidemics.
The theme in question will be addressed through aspects of the concept of Global Health (One Health) and its applications, research and innovation in the monitoring and management of unprecedented health crises: genomic sequencing, emergency epidemiology and how the methods of combating pathogens and experiments in the modeling of epidemics, digitization and the contribution of artificial intelligence have been refined.
A panel of synthesis and general debate will make it possible to identify the prospects for research and innovation in this field.
As a reminder, King Mohammed VI, installed the Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Techniques in Agadir on May 18, 2006, and each year, at this time, we commemorate the anniversary of this event in one session. where studies and reports, works, and other actions of a scientific nature are presented.
