The Forvia group launched work on its new factory on Monday in Salé, in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour and the Executive Vice-President of “Seating” at the group, Frank Huber.
The new industrial unit, which will allow the Group’s industrial activity to be extended to Morocco, will be specialized in the cutting and production of textile and leather covers for car seats in order to meet the demand of several European car manufacturers, customers of the group.
This industrial project, which follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Faurecia, a company of the Forvia group, the world’s 7th largest automotive technology company, and the Moroccan State in December 2022, concerns an investment by the equipment manufacturer of more than 150 million dirhams and will allow the creation of 1,400 new jobs, over the period 2022-2027.
It settles in the automotive ecosystem which achieves remarkable performances, thus favoring a more marked integration of local value chains and the improvement of the competitiveness of the productive fabric in Morocco.
On this occasion, the Minister declared that this fourth Faurecia plant reinforces “our positioning as a destination of choice for investments in the automotive sector”. It’s a clear sign, he said, of big-name actors’ confidence in “our potential and our industrial strengths”.
This project, he added, will bring added value to the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, by strengthening its position as a reference industrial pole in the automotive industry.
Frank Huber, for his part, underlined that the group, present in Morocco for almost fifteen years, “is delighted, through the extension of its factory in Salé, to open a new chapter in this country where we already employ nearly 4,000 people”.
“Morocco offers significant growth in recent years in the automotive sector. We are delighted to strengthen our position today in this ecosystem and also thank the local authorities for their support since the beginning of this project.” he argued.
It should be noted that Forvia has been present in Morocco since 2008 through its two factories in Kenitra (Faurecia Equipements Automobiles and Faurecia Automotive Industries Morocco) and its factory in Salé (Faurecia Automotive Systems Technologies).
