The First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, expressed her heartfelt thanks to King Mohammed VI for the welcome he received during his visit to Morocco, “one of the oldest friendly countries” of the States -United. Jill Biden was greeted upon her arrival by Princess Lalla Hasnaa.
“Thank you for the warm welcome to Morocco,” said Jill Biden, addressing King Mohammed VI, in a tweet broadcast on Sunday accompanied by a “Shukran bzaf!” », in Moroccan Arabic dialect. “It is an honor to visit one of America’s oldest friendly countries,” she added.
In a statement issued by the White House on Sunday, the First Lady of the United States praised the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in favor of the empowerment of women and young people.
“Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is promoting reforms aimed at empowering women and youth, which reflect our shared priorities,” said the First Lady of the United States, adding that her country is grateful for its age-old partnership and friendship with Morocco.
Jill Biden also recalled having been “graciously welcomed” on her arrival on Saturday afternoon in Marrakech, by Princess Lalla Hasnaa, and recounted her interview.
“And when we met, she told me about her work to raise awareness among children and young people about the importance of protecting the environment,” added Ms. Biden, who said she was inspired by the passion of the princess.
“I am excited to share his story when I return to the United States, as part of efforts to capitalize on each other’s learning opportunities. Because our world is tied together in many ways and common values are the foundation upon which our future should be built,” she said.
The First Lady of the United States was accompanied during this visit by her daughter Ashley Biden and her sister Bobby Jacobs. Her visit to the Kingdom is part of a tour of the Middle East, North Africa and Europe with the aim of promoting the conditions of women and young people around the world, particularly with regard to education, health and empowerment.
