The First Lady of the United States expected soon in Morocco

The First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, will soon visit Morocco, her spokesperson, Vanessa Valdivia, announced on Friday.

The visit to the Kingdom is part of Ms Biden’s tour of the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, which is due to start from next Wednesday, the spokeswoman said.

Ms. Biden intends through this regional tour to promote the conditions of women and young people around the world, particularly with regard to education, health and empowerment, according to the same source.

The visit of the First Lady of the United States to Morocco is the second after that of 2014 when Jill Biden had accompanied President Joe Biden, then vice-president of the Obama administration, during his participation in the 5th edition of the World Summit of Entrepreneurship (GES) held in November in Marrakech.

Morocco has always been a privileged destination for the First Ladies of the United States of America, as was the case in particular in 1963 with the visit of Jacqueline Kennedy, wife of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and in 1999 with the visit of Hillary Clinton and his daughter Chelsea. Clinton later returned to the Kingdom in 2012 as Secretary of State under the Obama administration.

In 2016, Morocco also welcomed Michelle Obama, who was accompanied by her two daughters, Malia and Sasha. Michelle Obama’s visit was part of the “Let Girls Learn” initiative launched in 2015.

This enthusiasm for the Kingdom, land of welcome and hospitality, denotes the place Morocco enjoys with senior American officials and provides information on the solidity of the long-standing strategic partnership that unites Morocco and the United States under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
