Here are five key points from Bank Al-Maghrib’s (BAM) “loans and bank deposits” dashboard for the month of February 2022:

– Outstanding bank credit stood at 962.9 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of February 2022, an annual increase of 3.3%.

– Outstandings are divided between non-financial agents with 842.8 billion dirhams (+3.3%) and financial agents with 120.1 billion dirhams (+3.5%).

– Loans to households recorded an annual increase of 3.7%, mainly reflecting a 4.3% increase in housing loans. – Crowdfunding for housing, in particular in the form of real estate Murabaha, continued to grow and stood at 16.4 billion dirhams, after 12 billion dirhams a year earlier. – Deposits with banks recorded an annual increase of 5.5% to stand at 1,050.2 billion dirhams.

– Household deposits stood at 779.7 billion dirhams, an annual increase of 2.7% with 186.9 billion dirhams held by Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), while deposits from private companies increased by 11.7% to 166.4 billion dirhams.
