The Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) and the Palestinian Economic and Social Council have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote joint initiatives.
This memorandum of understanding was signed during a meeting between the president of the EESC, Ahmed Reda Chami, and a large Palestinian delegation led by Dr Ahmed Majdalani, president of the Economic and Social Council of the State of Palestine, who was accompanied by the Palestinian ambassador to Morocco, Jamal Choubki, says a press release from the EESC.
According to the same source, this MoU also aims to share expertise and best practices between the Moroccan and Palestinian councils, to increase the pace of the proposal force both in the context of bilateral and multilateral work, in particularly through the Union of Arab Economic and Social Councils and similar institutions, as founders of this union and members of its board of directors.
This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss economic and social development in the two countries, in the light of the current context and changes at the regional and international levels, as well as the roles that the two Moroccan and Palestinian councils can play through their cooperation and coordination to achieve the approaches necessary to deal with the questions and problems imposed by this context and these changes, in particular those of the climate, in addition to the sustainability and resilience of the economies, the challenges of water, food and energy security.
It also made it possible to present the experiences and working methodologies of each council making it possible to enrich and help public policies and development choices, while associating institutional, economic, social and civil society actors, as well as to mobilize citizen consultations.
Also taking part in this meeting was the general secretary of the CESE, Younes Benakki, as well as Khalil Bensami, Abdallah Moutaki and Abderrahim Ksiri, members of the council.
