“The depth of relations between Morocco and Israel must develop on sound economic foundations”

As part of the implementation of the Joint Declaration between Morocco and Israel, signed in December 2020, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the aeronautical industry sector was signed, Wednesday in Rabat, between Morocco and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

Initialed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IAI, Amir Peretz, and the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, the latter returned in an interview to this agreement signed with one of the largest companies aerospace and defense industries of Israel.

IAI, which is one of the world leaders in certain fields of aeronautics, took an interest in the Moroccan platform with the visit of an important delegation. IAI has decided to commit to develop its activities in Morocco and take advantage of the competitiveness of the Moroccan platform», confided the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade.

While specifying that the signing of this strategic agreement is “exclusively civilian“, Ryad Mezzour specified, with regard to the content of the agreement, that several sectors are concerned in terms of maintenance, repair and transformation of aircraft, as well as in terms of Research and Development.

The depth of relations between the two countries must develop on sound economic foundations. Beyond the affect, there are opportunities in terms of competitiveness research and market development“. And to conclude : “We have in Morocco 17,000 jobs in aeronautics and we aim to triple this number in the next five years. And this project is a very important piece of the puzzle to contribute to it“recalled Minister Ryad Mezzour.

It should be recalled that within the framework of this partnership, concluded yesterday in Rabat, Morocco and IAI have also identified investment opportunities relating mainly to 3D printing, the manufacture of cabin interiors and engine parts and accessories. aerostructures, as well as the establishment of an R&D and engineering center and the development of a fabric of local suppliers through sourcing partnerships with IAI.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company IAI, Amir Peretz, had stressed that this memorandum of understanding is a further step in the creation of a new partnership between IAI and the aeronautics and space industries in Morocco.
