The Dakhla Film Commission takes part in the work of the EFM

On the sidelines of the 73rd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, which took place from February 16 to 26, the Dakhla Film Commission participated this week in the work of the European Film Market (EFM), by offering a special gallery.

This participation, unique in its kind for a Moroccan organization in this international market, aims to make known the potentialities and advantages offered by the Kingdom in general, and the southern provinces in particular in terms of international cinematographic and television works, indicates a Commission statement.

The Moroccan delegation that took part in this event, presented a set of data relating to the Commission and the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and its role in coordination to develop joint cinematographic and cultural cooperation, in particular production, training and distribution, the statement added.

The delegation was composed in particular of the producer and distributor, Asma Graimiche, the president of the Dakhla Film Commission, the producer Karim Dabbagh, the vice-president of the Commission, the German producer, Michael Dreher and the artistic director of the festivals cinematographic, Malak Dahmouni.

On this occasion, the commission indicates that the film ” Seneca by international star John Malkovich, was screened globally for the first time. This cinematographic work was shot in Morocco and co-produced by the vice-president of the Dakhla Film Commission, producer Karim Dabbagh, in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Germany, Zohour Alaoui.

The EFM is considered one of the most important international meetings of the film industry, since it has seen the participation of more than 550 exhibitors and approximately 9,600 professionals from nearly 120 countries, including approximately 1,700 international buyers and 1,140 exhibitors of 784 films.

Also taking part in this market were sellers and buyers of films, producers, distributors, backers, representatives of worldwide television, home entertainment media and new media, with the objective to obtain the latest productions and follow news relating to the world film scene, as well as the negotiation of film rights and the establishment or strengthening of a network of relations in the film industry sector.
