The Crown Prince and Moulay Rachid at the funeral of the late Abdelouahed Radi

The funeral of the late Abdelouahed Radi took place on Tuesday in the presence of Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, as well as several senior state officials.

The funeral procession left the headquarters of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) in Rabat, where a number of party members had gathered before heading to the home of the deceased, where many personalities flocked to bid him farewell.

The prayer for the dead took place in the mosque of the martyrs in Rabat, immediately after the arrival of the crown prince and Moulay Rachid, who led the funeral procession towards the cemetery of the martyrs, where the body of the deceased was laid buried.

As a reminder, Abdelouahed Radi, former speaker of the House of Representatives and leader of the USFP, died Sunday at the age of 88, in a clinic in France, where he was being treated for a long-term illness. His body was repatriated to Morocco on Monday via Rabat-Salé airport.

The deceased leaves behind a remarkable political legacy at the national, Arab and international levels.

In a message of condolences and compassion to the members of the family of the deceased, King Mohammed VI expressed his deep condolences and his best feelings of compassion for this painful affliction, recalling, with esteem, the journey of an activist and politician of the deceased marked by devotion, sincerity and abnegation in the service of his country and for the defense of the constants of the nation and its sacred causes.

The Sovereign also said to remember, with deep respect, the qualities of great statesmen possessed by the deceased, known for his human qualities, his sincere patriotism, his political wisdom, his integrity and his competence in the various high offices governmental, parliamentary and academic positions he has held.
