The Belt and Road Joint Implementation Plan between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People’s Republic of China is on track. A convention to this effect was signed on Wednesday during a ceremony organized by videoconference, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Vice-President of the Commission. National Reform and Development National (NDRC), Ning Jizhe.
The Convention aims to promote access to Chinese financing provided for by the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for the realization of large-scale projects in Morocco or for the facilitation of trade, the establishment joint ventures in various fields (industrial parks, energies, including renewable energies).
It also relates to cooperation in Research and Development (technology, energy, agriculture, etc.), and technological and technical cooperation, as well as vocational training.
Under the agreement, the Chinese government undertakes to encourage large Chinese companies to set up and / or invest in Moroccan territory (automotive industry, aeronautics, high-tech and e-commerce, agricultural industry and textiles …).
It should be noted that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), launched in 2013 by President Xi Jinping, under the name of “One Belt, One Road”, is both a set of maritime links and railways between China and the acceding countries.
Its ambition is to promote new cooperation opportunities between China and the 140 countries that have joined it. It is based on dialogue, partnership, mutual learning and inspiration rather than confrontation and alignment.
As a reminder, Morocco was the first country in Africa to join the “Belt and Road” initiative since its launch.
