The Competition Council announced the resumption of the investigation of the case relating to the hydrocarbons market. A new report is expected at the end of the work.

In a press release, the institution chaired by Ahmed Rahhou announced that it had “decided unanimously by its members to refer the file relating to possible anti-competitive practices in the hydrocarbon distribution market to the investigation”.

A new report will be drafted and presented to the college of the Council which will once again examine the suspicions of anti-competitive practices in this area, after the suspension of the instruction due to the pending promulgation of the law on prices and competition. .

The Council must also finalize the form of the law on prices and competition, the same source indicates. The decision to take over the hydrocarbons dossier comes down to the new amendments added to the legal framework of competition, and the entry into force of the law modifying and supplementing the law relating to the freedom of prices and competition, and the law modifying and supplementing the law relating to the Competition Council.

The institution explains that these amendments are intended to provide the necessary precision to the procedures in progress before the Council, while strengthening the legal security offered to the parties concerned by the said procedures.
