Every summer, for more than two decades, the walls of the city of Alizés resonate with the sounds of guembris, rattlesnakes and drums which combine with the sounds of strings, brass and percussion from Europe, America, Africa and from Asia.
During the Gnaoua and World Music Festival, the city puts on its finest attire. At the foot of the ramparts, at the end of each alley, the whole town celebrates music. From the main stage, to the beach stage, via the Borj Bab Marrakech… a festive atmosphere and different worlds.
Moulay Hassan stage, Essaouira receives the world
This is the main stage of the festival. Overlooking the city, between the beach and the medina, it is the beating heart of the festivities. The stage receives every year the headliners who offer fusions and residences, but also all the music of the world.
The main stage will resonate with the soulful and powerful voice of Selah Sue, the sunny and nostalgic tunes of Eliades Ochoa, the Jamaican sounds tinged with hip-hop of Ky-Mani Marley or the overflowing energy of a chaabi-groove many of us Hoba Hoba Spirit.
Beach scene, place for talent and energy
The beach scene, with its irreducible fans, offers a program that is as eclectic as it is festive. It generally welcomes groups or headliners who offer solo or fusion concerts.
For this edition, the beach scene invites us to dive into Moroccan music through all its diversity, with one of the rare representatives of the female Gnaoua art, Hind Ennaira, the ambassador of Amazigh song, Larbi Imghrane, the Safiotes with electric chaabi Hasba Groove. Borj Bab Marrakech, under the stars
A historic monument and a hotspot for exhibitions and artistic events, the walls of Borj Bab Marrakech host one of the most talented jazz bands with Afro-Cuban sounds of its generation, El Comité, a concert not to be missed. pretext.
