The Casablanca Stock Exchange closes slightly down

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed its trading on Friday, down slightly, weakened by the poor performance in particular of the “Community services” and “Forestry & paper” sectors.

After a session in the red, the index of all stocks, Masi, fell 0.62% to 13,105.71 points. The MSI20, for its part, fell by 0.81% to 1,072.60 points and the Madex by 0.70% to 10,648.54 points.

The benchmark Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) “Casablanca ESG 10” also lost 0.36% to 986.98 points. Internationally, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 lost 0.67% to 12,456.24 points and the FTSE Morocco All-Liquid dropped 0.74% to 11,169.71 points. In terms of sectors, 12 indexes showed gray, against 08 up, while four sectors showed no change.

Under the influence of the poor performance of its single stock Lydec (-4%), the “Utilities” index showed the strongest sector decline. The “Forestry & Paper” sector (-3.96%) also ended up among the losers, weighed down by its unique title “Med Paper”. As for the winners, “Leisure and hotels” appreciated by 3.85%, while the “Beverages” and “Oil and gas” sectors gained 1.82% and 1.41% respectively.

At the end of this day, the overall volume of securities trading stood at MAD 183.38 million (MDH), carried out only on the central market. Market capitalization amounted to nearly 674.49 billion dirhams (MMDH).

The largest drops were recorded by CTM, Lydec, Douja Addoha and Fennie Brossette (-4% each) and Jet contractors (-3.99%). The largest increases were achieved by Atlantasanad (3.99%), Involys (3.99%), SMI (3.89%), Risma (3.85%) and Lesieur Cristal (3.18%).
