
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, congratulated King Mohammed VI for the fine performance of the Moroccan national team, which qualified for the semi-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup on Saturday.
Mahamat called this historic qualification “an immense joy and pride offered to Africa”.
“To His Majesty Mohammed VI, the Moroccan people and the lions of the Atlas, our warmest congratulations for this unique and grandiose African achievement. Forward, the cup is within reach!”, tweeted the Chairperson of the AU Commission.

Note that Morocco qualified for the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup (Qatar-2022), beating Portugal by 1 goal to 0, Saturday at the al-Thumama stadium.
The victory goal of the Atlas Lions was scored by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 42′.
