The Atlas Lionesses started the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022, with a victory against Burkina Faso (1-0), on Saturday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium.
The Moroccan goal was scored by Ghizlaine Chebbak (29′).
For its second outing, the women’s national team, which is in pool A, will meet its counterpart from Uganda (July 5) and before facing Senegal (July 8). All the matches of this group take place on the lawn of the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat.
Note that this meeting was preceded by an opening ceremony of this edition of the women’s CAN which takes place from July 2 to 23 in Morocco.
This ceremony, marked by the presence in particular of the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, the President of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, the Minister of National Education, of Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, was marked by a musical show drawn from the African repertoire and traditions, against a backdrop of fireworks that illuminated the Moulay Abdellah complex in Rabat, in addition to a parade that put in honor of the African woman.
