With nearly half a million candidates preparing to take the baccalaureate exams for the 2022-2023 school year in a few days, the problem of cheating is resurfacing. However, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports promises to strengthen its anti-cheating system.
The Minister in charge, Chakib Benmoussa, affirmed, Monday before the deputies of the House of Representatives, that his department has carried out several awareness campaigns and coordinated with the regional and security authorities to prevent this phenomenon in all its forms, by mobilizing all partners and parents of students too.
For Abdellah Ghmimat, secretary general of the National Federation of Education (FNE), these measures can indeed contribute to the reduction of cases of fraud if they are implemented in an intensive and balanced way. However, he pointed out that they remain insufficient to deal with such a problem.
Ghmimat pointed out, in a statement to MoroccoLatestNews, that cheating ” is a general phenomenon that does not only affect the education sector, but has deepened and become structural in it for many reasons, including the failure of the education system, the drop in the level of students, as well as the absence of equal opportunities resulting from the Ministry’s encouragement of the private sector and overtime, which creates unfair competition between students“.
And to add: Therefore, all components of society must raise awareness among pupils and students,” specifying that “obtaining a degree by illegal methods will not benefit the holder, his family, or society at large“.
In addition, the secretary general of the FNE considers it necessary to introduce numerous measures, the most important of which is to ensure the protection of those assigned to guard duty in the examination centers, due to previous attacks by students. and who pushed these supervisors to refuse this assignment or to provide medical certificates to justify their absence.
