In order to facilitate access for Moroccans through the border crossings linking Ukraine to Slovakia, the Ambassador of Morocco to Austria, Slovakia and Slovenia, Azeddine Farhane, held yesterday, Tuesday March 1, 2022, a meeting with the regional director of the police of Vysné, Nemecké.
This meeting took place after the telephone conversation held the same day between Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister for Foreign Affairs, and his Slovak counterpart following which instructions were given to the Slovak police to facilitate access for Moroccans to Slovakia.
In this sense, Slovak officials welcomed the cooperation of the Moroccan authorities as well as the establishment of special flights from Bratislava to Morocco. They are committed to facilitating as far as possible the accommodation of students while waiting for planes from Morocco according to their number, in particular those arriving through this border access point.
Morocco and Slovakia are committed to cooperating closely to make this eminently humanitarian operation a success.
As a reminder, more than 1,500 Moroccan nationals have crossed from the borders with Slovakia, one of the seven bordering countries of Ukraine. A figure set to evolve.
In total, more than 4,000 Moroccans have been able to leave Ukraine by land since the start of the crisis, in addition to the 3,000 who have returned to Morocco by air.
